Impulse Buy: Milani Cosmetics

Impulse Buy: Milani Cosmetics

For the past few Basic Bitch Sundays I have been hunting for the perfect corally pink shade blush/lipstick on a drugstore budget. I ended up at a Walmart this past Sunday and finally found it - the perfect corally pink blush from Milani Cosmetics in the shade Coral Cove.

It is a gorgeous shade of coral and it puts the perfect pop of color on the cheeks. Its definitely very blendable but can be a little powdery at times. I haven't had any problems applying it (except for my heavy handedness the first time) and I think it may become an end of summer staple. Maybe I could even push this color into fall? Milani is definitely one of my favorite drugstore brands and I own multiple products from them.

15 Weird Facts Tag

15 Weird Facts Tag

#1 What's a nickname only your family calls you?
A nickname only my family calls me is 'Pup'. My Grandfather is the designated nickname-assigner, and when I was a kid that's what I got! Unsurprisingly, my little brother is called 'Baby Pup'.

#2 What's a weird habit of yours?
I have to set everything to sets of 5. The TV can't be on 12 - it has to be at 10 or 15. Also whenever I get out of my car I have to lock the car once, and then once I've walked away from it I have to click the little 'lock' button on my car again.

#3 Do you have any weird phobias?
Uh, I'm afraid of fire?

#4 What's a song you secretly LOVE to blast & belt out when you're alone?

I will literally sing anything if it triggers a song in my head. But there are some country songs that I actually like but will not sing in front of anyone else.
#5 What's one of your biggest pet peeves?
Spitting. I hate it when I see guys or girls spitting in public. I find it absolutely disgusting. I also hate that noise that people make when they like suck the back of their throat. Ugh - annoying!

#6 What's one of your nervous habits?

I bite my nails suuuuuper bad. I have since I was a kid.
#7 What side of the bed do you sleep on?
I usually like to sleep on the right side of the bed - but I pretty much just prefer the side of the bed that's closest to the door.

#8 What was your first stuffed animal & it's name?
My first stuffed animal? Man I don't know. I had this super large bear when I was a kid that I slept with all the time. I didn't name him though. He was just a big white polar bear.

#9 What's the drink you ALWAYS order at starbucks?
Venti Iced Passion tea lemonade. With extra sweetener - ALWAYS.

#10 What's the beauty rule you preach.. but never ACTUALLY practice?
Probably about how often you should wash your brushes. I wash mine maybe once every 2 weeks? But to be fair I only use like 3 and I wash the sponge I apply my makeup with more often.

#11 Which way do you face in the shower?

I always face away from the shower head unless I'm washing my face.
#12 Do you have any 'weird' body 'skills'?
I can roll my toes under my feet and stand on them?

#13 What's your favorite 'comfort food'/food that's 'bad' but you love to eat it anyways?

I love eating Country Fried Steak. It literally is so delicious and I love it but I'm pretty sure its terrible for you - I mean its fried steak with creamy white sausage gravy on it. And bacon.
#14 What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?
"Sweet baby jesus"

#15 Time to sleep- what are you ACTUALLY wearing?
Usually just a t-shirt. I have this one shirt that I have literally had forever and it is the most comfortable thing in the world.

How To Wear a Leopard Dress to Work

How To Wear A Leopard Dress to Work

Wearing prints in the workplace can be one of the most difficult things - and leopard print is no exception to this fact. Recently I picked up this super cute Leopard print dress from Target for $25 and really wanted to wear it to work. So I did what every other 25 year old would do - I sat down at my computer and googled "Can I wear leopard print to work?" Now this may vary by office or building, but my office is pretty casual when it comes to a dress code. Other offices in the building have a pretty strict dress code, but since we don't meet clients face-to-face its not really necessary when we will be sitting on a computer all day making calls.
Either way, to the left is the dress that I wore. Its a super cute blousey  dress that I bought with a friend on a recent Basic Bitch Sunday trip.
Its sleeveless, has a keyhole front, is short, and has a defined waist. To make this work appropriate I accessorized with a few simple items that I already had in my closet: a black belt, cardigan, flats, cute hair bow.

The thin black belt was a staple for me. It was leather and had a tarnished bronze-gold buckle and went perfectly with the dress. I decided to wear it under the cardigan just in case I went out after work.

Black cardigan - how can you go wrong? This one had short sleeves (because it's hot) but was light and comfortable enough to wear all day.

I paired the outfit with Simply Vera Tuxedo Flats in black. I love these shoes and they have a giant black bow on them. They bring a little femininity into an outfit while keeping it comfortable. I also would of worn a pair of black gladiator sandals or some thick black strap wedges if going a little more casual or bringing the dress to a more nighttime look.

Essie Mint Candy Apple

Essie Mint Candy Apple

So if you don't know me that well - you wouldn't know that I'm a compulsive nail biter and skin picker. My poor little fingers are literally stubs. Recently I've decided, in an attempt to quit biting my stubs, to get acrylics. When I got the nails put on originally I picked the essie color Blanc with a gold glitter. But this time, I found a pretty mint color and brought it in.

It is such a pretty color, but I wanted a little more. So I googled some simple stripes, showed it to the nail tech, and she executed them beautifully. I really like this color and design so I may decide to do it again!

Also: For those of you thinking about how short my nails are, Yes they are short. But to me, these are long. My natural nail even after two weeks of growth doesn't reach the end of my fingers. I need to keep them short so I don't chew the acrylic off (because I will and have before).

What colors do you recommend for the next time I get my nails done?
I'm looking for summery and fun colors!

Things To Do In New York City

Things To Do In New York City

I'm going to be honest - I only know of things to do in the city. There is an entire state outside of the city that I am not well versed in and have honestly not seen the rest of. But here is a list of my top Things to Do in NYC.

Blogging Through A Funk

Blogging Through A Funk

Alright, I'm gonna just come out and say it - I'm in a funk. I feel completely uninspired as of late. Last month in a whirlwind of ideas I had the entire month planned - but this month I have nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

So when posting day rolled around for me I was worried - albeit terrified that I wouldn't get anything up. I asked my friends what I should write about and while their ideas were good it just didn't feel original, and it definitely didn't feel like me. So I did what any other blogger would do - binge watch an entire season of a TV show in 2 days. What?! Don't judge. After that I opened up a blog post and just started writing. I don't have any ideas - but I literally am just writing what I'm feeling. I'm not writing this one for comments, or usefulness, or so that people will actually visit.

I realize I'm writing this post for me. These moments make me realize that I'm human - and that I am allowed to make mistakes. I'm not perfect - but being a perfectionist is part of who I am. I do not only expect to be able to do everything - I expect to be good at it.

I know this is an impossible task and literally sets myself up for disaster. I know this. And yet I still can't help myself. This is an aspect of my personality that I will probably work on for the rest of my life. But until then - I'm going to enjoy putting myself out there and doing the absolute best that I can. I'm going to enjoy my life and the experiences in it - and I will attempt to not beat myself up if it doesn't go perfectly.

And that, will probably be the hardest part.
