Easter Weekend Shenanigans!

Easter Weekend Shenanigans!

This past weekend I had an absolute blast. I actually got to relax a little bit and I'm definitely yearning for the weekend as I write this.

Note: This post is going to be picture heavy so I've hidden most of it under a cut. <3

For one: I had a half way at work on Friday so we managed to be able to go out to a nice lunch at the chinese buffet down the street from us and then head on down to my Grandmas house which is where we'd be spending our whole weekend. (the chinese place has delicious little donuts that make me salivate just thinking about them)
So we packed up after lunch - hopped in the car and to Grandma's house we go!

Chris and I stopped at the dollar store on the way to Grams to pick up a few things and somehow a 4 foot inflatable alligator and a water gun got into the basket. I'm not going to name names - but I think I know who put them in here. (chris) Either way, Chris was excited to test out his new pool toys and was determined to swim ASAP. So after only being home about for about 20 minutes Chris was in his swim trunks and we were going swimming!
Friday night my Grandma, Brother, Chris, and I all dyed Easter eggs. Can you believe that Chris had never dyed eggs before?! I think he had more fun than anyone coloring them - we did neon tie-dye eggs.

Buster was soo pooped at the end of the night that he was literally the most adorable thing ever and just fell asleep in my lap cuddling my leg.

Comfy Winter Look & Holiday Music!

Comfy Winter Look & Holiday Music!

Today I thought I'd give you a look into my version of a comfy "winter" outfit.

Simple Winter

This outfit is actually something I made at the start of Fall, but it was so hot here I completely forgot all about it because it didn't feel like Fall to me. But finally the weather has given up and has decided to get a bit colder. So I pulled this outfit back from the depths of polyvore and decided to share it with you guys.

I love myself a cute, fuzzy, warm, white sweater (I own two). And I love to pair them with either A) Dark wash skinny jeans or B) Distressed boyfriend jeans with a cute cuff. I decided on the boyfriend jeans for this look with some pretty neutral accessories. I've been loving beige/nudes for the Fall/Winter so I kept with that. A simple nude colored scarf and some nude ballet flats. I love the idea of a cute standout purse with such a neutral outfit to give it a little flair, and then adding some cute heart earrings, a gold bangle, and a cute little ring. I kept the makeup seriously basic with a nude lip and mascara for a simple but polished look.

I feel like this outfit would be perfect for visiting a friend and lounging on their couch while you drink delicious hot chocolate and listen to some holiday music.

Speaking of music This Holiday...

Halloween costume ideas

Costume Ideas for Halloween

So, as Halloween approaches I've done enough googling for Halloween costumes for about 3 people. So I'm going to show you some of the costumes that I seriously considered!

I like costumes that are a little more conservative, and usually had a male pairing because Chris and I are finally able to do a couples costume this year!

Costume #1: Broken Doll

I came across an amazing makeup tutorial on how to do a broken doll makeup. I spent a very long time looking for the proper costume to compliment the makeup I was planning on doing, and eventually settled on this dress shown on the left. My favorite color is purple and I had amazing ideas on how to style this.

I hate ordering costumes and clothing online sometimes, because I can't touch the fabric. But the reviews online for the dress were amazing.

If you like this costume I found it on Spirit Halloweens website.

I didn't end up picking this one though because Chris didn't want to be a doll or a puppeteer. Plus I had to think about its wearability throughout the night while I was hosting a party, so I eventually decided against this.

After a week long break

I'm baaaaaack!

And I pretty pretty promise it was for a good reason!

Over this past week Chris and I have been talking about expanding our family. So, after doing a lot of talking and number crunching we've decided its time to expand our little family. This comes as a bit of a shock to some because I'm definitely not one to move fast on serious decisions like this, but after talking it out with the boo I realized it was something I definitely wanted.

So, I'd like to introduce the new member of our little family:
Please Welcome Buster!

Dollar Store Haul!

$1 Store Haul!

Last night I had to make a run to the dollar store to pick up some things I needed for the house, so while I was there, I went a little crazy in the beauty section and picked up quite a few things. I love my dollar store because they'll carry elf, milani, and other brand items! Granted most of these items are off brand or drugstore, its still quality items for only a dollar!

Eyes:

I have been LOOKING for these trios from L.A. Colors for like FOREVER since I picked up the Orchid trio about a year ago. I've featured the Orchid trio in multiple FOTD's because I really do love it, and I wanted to try a couple more but haven't been able to find it. Imagine how excited I was when I came across these trios in the dollar store! I immediately grabbed the first one I saw which was Water Lily trio. It has this pretty blue-green color, a pretty lavender color, and a lovely light blue. I can't wait to use it and test out some looks! The other trio I picked up was the color SunFlower. Its a really neutral trio with a deep brown color, a rust color, and then a light gold highlight. It's going to be awesome to use as another everyday look alongside the Orchid trio. L.A. Colors has a WIDE variety of colors with these trios and I'm hoping to run into a few more soon!

FOTD - OOTD - August 5, 2014

FOTD - OOTD

August 5th, 2014

 OOTD
I picked this dress up sometime within the last year (I honestly am not sure). But since I've gotten it I have been in love with it! This is the dress I mentioned in my August Favorites. I think the thing that spoke to me the most was the color and patterns that adorn this dress. They are seriously eye-catching and this dress is perfect for days where I want to look like I tried really hard in the morning when I really didn't. I also like how it minimises my breast size. The only qualm I have with this dress is the neckline, I have to wear one of those bra clasps that pulls my bra straps in so that they aren't as visible. I paired this dress with some old gold sandals that I own. Its easy and it looks like I seriously tried!
FOTD
This FOTD is pretty standard. But using some of the new things that I picked up this month.
  • Primer: e.l.f. Mineral Infused Primer
  • Concealer/Highlighter: e.l.f. Studio Duo Concealer/Highlighter in Light
  • Foundation: Covergirl Outlast 3-in-1 in Creamy Natural.
  • Eyebrows: e.l.f. Studio Eyebrow kit in medium.
  • Blush: Maybelline Fit me Blush in Medium Pink
  • Eyeshadow: Highlighter is a Sally Beauty Supply Single in White. The other eyeshadow is the L.A. Colors Trio in Orchid.
  • Eyeliner: Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof gel liner in black.
  • LipGloss: Nyx Butter Gloss in Raspberry Tart.
My earrings are all cheapies that I've picked up from Claires/local stores around here and I'm currently wearing Wet n' Wilds Lavender Pearlescent. Its this pretty peachy pink color that I was fond of and I liked the $1 price even more.

August Favorites

August Favorites

There have been a few things that I have loved this month.

Beauty:

It may be plausible that I bought all these things on sale or were all under $10.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof gel liner in black: To be completely honest, I'd never used a gel liner before. I bought this one while it was on sale at my local drugstore and I picked up the same version of liner in a liquid form as well. I figured "Why not try it?" Lets just say, the liquid liner still isnt even out of the package yet. I absolutely love this gel liner. I goes on so smooth and pigmented, and stays that way all day. I got it in black, and it has actually completely replaced my pencils and liquid liners for now.

e.l.f. Studio Duo Concealer/Highlighter in Light: $3.00 pricetag, and another one of those "Why not?" purchases that I've fallen in love with. I the concealer end under my foundation to lighten the areas under my eyes and when I'm really lazy to actually use it as a eye primer. Please note: I do not use this as an actual concealer to cover my blemishes, more as another highlighter. The actual highlighter I use on my nose, cupids bow, and the arches of my eyebrows. When my fiance sees me do this he calls it my war paint. Haha!

e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer: I've been using this little delicious thing as my primer for my face for the whole month of August! It has an SPF of 20 in it which has seriously been helpful in this awful August heat and sun. Please note this product is silicone based. So if you don't like silicone based things on your face then I wouldn't recommend it for ya. But its worked nicely and helps my makeup go on smoothly.

Fashion:

I haven't really had any fashion pieces that I'm seriously loving this month, but I can let you know one thing that hasn't changed - my love for maxi skirts and dresses! Every time I go out I keep looking for new maxi dresses on sale and although I haven't found any new ones I'm still lovin' them. I'm particularly fond of this multi-color one that I don't currently have a picture of but will post.

Also I've been loving these seriously OLD black flip-flops that I found while I was cleaning out my apartment. They are so comfortable and easy to just slip on and off when I'm running to pick Chris up from work or to toss in my car in case of rainy days. I love wearing them with my anklets. It makes me feel like I'm a little bohemian.

7 Year Anniversary Post

My Fiance and I have been together for 7 years as of yesterday.

No seriously. Its been seven years. And to be honest, it hasn't felt like that long at all. Maybe its the distance, maybe its the fact that we didn't get to spend a lot of those 7 years actually together. But there has never been once where I've thought that this relationship was a waste of time.

I think it was after a year I realized how much I truly and deeply cared for this man.

I made him this little composite for facebook to see how awesome we are.

I'm wearing WHAT...?!

I'M WEARING WHAT...?!

Pants. Yes, pants.
To those of you who know me, you are seriously surprised because I only wear pants every once in a blue moon. Well, apparently a blue moon is tonight because I've got not only JEANS but SKINNY JEANS on.

To be honest I never thought I'd fit in these pants again. But, I do! They are still a bit tight, but wearable nevertheless. They are a darker denim and I've paired them with a colorful top. For my hair I've just done a simple hairstyle and paired it with simple makeup. I find going to work all glammed up to be a bit overkill. All I do all day is stare at code and the only people who notice are my co workers, who are already in shock that I've decided to wear pants. Please ignore my sandals: I had a charlie horse in my calf last night that left my leg aching for the majority of the day. (I actually left the house in my slippers!)

About Me - Contact Info - Hello Wench

About Me & Hello Wench

About Me

Noodle Boodle!
At the time of publishing - I'm a 24 year old engineering student, working almost full time, and enjoying my life. I'm engaged to Chris, & we live together in sunny Florida. I try to enjoy my life as much as I possibly can and I'm a little too addicted to all things nerdy. I love comic books and videogames, but have found to enjoy my feminine side more and more as I've gotten older.
I currently have 1 pet, a cat named Noodle. Hes a little over a year old right now and is very Alpha and very hyper. We're in the process of leash training his crazy self so we can walk off some of the crazy. (While we look crazy walking the cat in the meantime)
I collect anything with skulls and pirates on it. I also collect My Little Pony, particularly G4 Pinkie Pie.
I like all kinds of music, except country. I particularly enjoy hip hop dance music from the early to late 90's.
I studied dance at a studio for 7 years - and then ended up dancing hip hop in high school.

Hello Wench

Chris & I - New Years 2014
Lets start with the name: To be honest I love pirates, and my gamertag on xbox live is WenchQueen. Overall, the backstory is a fun night with my friends and an old purse. Not everyone needs to understand it, but the people who were there do. I do understand the negative connotation to it but it reminds me of some great times. Which is why I chose to turn something that archaically means something so negative into something that makes me smile.

Content: I want to write about what makes me feel content, happy, and maybe even confident. And document my life in the meantime. So that when I look back, I can see how much I've grown and what I've learned in the process.

-Jenn

P.S. Dont ever stop learning! Whether it be in school or from life experiences! Always push yourself out of your comfort zone, you'll grow so much as a person that way.

OOTD - FOTD - Weight Loss Update!

This morning my wardrobe was seriously lacking because more than half my clothes, accessories, and shoes are packed up. So doing an OOTD was almost impossible, but I decided to do it anyway.
It monsooned outside my office on and off all day.
This outfit is pretty simple, just a dress I picked up a few years ago at Target. My fiance actually picked it out, and I wore it on the night we got engaged. The shoes are Pink & Pepper black madja gladiator sandals. I carried a blue teal Coach leather handbag I've had for a couple years. Its large and can hold all the things I need for school and work! (minus my laptop) I had my hair natural in just a headband. It was another wet day outside today, so I kept everything simple.

Review: Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation

I recently have spent some lengths of time in the sun, and because its the summertime my face gets fairly shiny pretty quickly. I wasn't even looking for a foundation originally, I had just given up and was going pretty bare-faced except for a light powder and possibly a BB cream this summer.

And then I went on vacation, and got really tan.

Soooooooo my BB cream no longer matched my body, and I was going out with my Mom and some of her friends we were on vacation with. One of her friends had just bought this and offered to let me use it. So I put a little on my hand and it matched me perfectly. I applied it with my beauty blender and it kept me matte all night in the Florida beach heat. So I had to buy it for myself.

The next day I went and picked it up for myself at Walgreens for $4.99. The price was seriously on point. I've been wearing it almost exclusively since then, and I love it. My tan is fading so I'm going to have to get a lighter color soon.
Pros:
  • Keeps me matte all day/all night in the muggy South FL weather.
  • I barely have to use any concealer.
  • Mild scent
  • Doesn't irritate my sensitive skin
Although I do have to say if you are more heavy handed using your foundation it can look cakey. If your going for that dewy summer fresh faced look, you won't get it with this foundation. But that is fine with me, because I sit in an office for most of the day anyway.
The image to the left was taken outside, and the one to the right was taken in my office.

If you have any comments or questions about this foundation leave a comment below!

My Best Friend Moved Back Home!

Fairly short post for today, but I just want to say: My best (girl) friend moved back home!

Everyone has that one girlfriend that seriously feels like they are your kindred spirit. She and I have been friends since high school, and we have more fun together than should be possible. We've laughed together, cried together, and supported each other through everything. So when she decided it was best for her to move to Maryland 2 years ago, I was supportive, but sad that she was leaving.

We went our separate ways and we fell out of touch when she left. Our lives just moved on naturally without each other.

BUT THE B**** IS BACK.

And its like no time has passed at all, we're two years older but just as ridiculous. And I realize that seriously, this is the girlfriend I was missing in my life.

Current Game(s) I'm Playing

Console Game: Halo 4

As far as console games go, the Halo franchise has some serious roots within the Xbox community. This may be older for everyone else who likes to move on to newer things, but I personally like to hold off a bit until all the hype (and the price) calms down to start playing.

I know the history of Master Chief, and I had no idea where the storyline was going. I was seriously engrossed in this new storyline, and overall I was seriously impressed with where 343 took MC's storyline and will be happy when I get to see where the storyline goes next.  Halo games have always had an awesome multiplayer campaign, and Chris and I love to play together. We beat the campaign in a few play sessions. We played a chapter every few nights so the campaign was beaten quite quickly. We work well as a team together, so it turned out alright except for a few car/flying missions where I seriously am still terrible at driving in this game. haha.

The multiplayer, on the other hand, is really what takes the cake for me. Chris and I used to love playing teams with a large group of friends, but since we've all gone our separate ways its mainly just us now. And we find ourselves enjoying a good game of grifball or slayer instead of teams now. The only problems I've been having with the multiplayer recently is literally spawning right next to people, and the newer maps being /tiny/ causing the aforementioned problem. The tiny maps make it nice to find people, but seriously annoying when you're constantly spawning right next to 2-3 people trying to kill each other.

Casual Game: Geometry Dash

I hate this game. Seriously, I only have the free version and am about to seriously decide on whether or not I'm buying the full version or not. When I'm sitting at home in bed, and doing absolutely nothing, I find myself grabbing the iPad and opening Geometry Dash. Its a rhythm based action platformer that requires you to die a lot, get really frustrated, and refuse to play on practice mode until you get seriously desperate.

At first, it was just "Hey, complete the level, feel accomplished." and evolved into "WE PUT GOLD COINS IN IMPOSSIBLE SPOTS BUT I BELIEVE IN YOU GO GET IT."

What can I say, I'm a sucker for gold coins. But now that I've got all the gold coins in the free version, I want moooore.

Also the music they use is fantastic.
