Quick Checklist: What you Need for a Weekend Getaway at the Beach

Once again I am getting away for a long weekend and heading to the beach. I've packed for this a couple times recently so I'll give you a quick lowdown on what I've packed to help you guys!
Most important thing to remember: SUNSCREEN

Clothes:
  • Undies (no seriously, don't forget them)
  • 1 bra (+ the one you're wearing, you can wear a bra more than once)
  • Bathing suit/bikini/water clothes
  • Pajamas (I cannot tell you how many times I have forgotten pajamas)
  • Clothes
    • I recommend at least 1 pair of shorts and 2 t shirts, but I chose to bring playsuits and jumpers with me this weekend. (from Fri-Mon)
  • Cute sandals
  • Beach Flip-flops/sandals
Makeup/Toiletries:
  • BB Cream
  • Blush
  • Powder
  • Eyeliner
  • Brow gel

  • Daily brush cleaning spray
  • Deodorant

Easter Weekend Shenanigans!

Easter Weekend Shenanigans!

This past weekend I had an absolute blast. I actually got to relax a little bit and I'm definitely yearning for the weekend as I write this.

Note: This post is going to be picture heavy so I've hidden most of it under a cut. <3

For one: I had a half way at work on Friday so we managed to be able to go out to a nice lunch at the chinese buffet down the street from us and then head on down to my Grandmas house which is where we'd be spending our whole weekend. (the chinese place has delicious little donuts that make me salivate just thinking about them)
So we packed up after lunch - hopped in the car and to Grandma's house we go!

Chris and I stopped at the dollar store on the way to Grams to pick up a few things and somehow a 4 foot inflatable alligator and a water gun got into the basket. I'm not going to name names - but I think I know who put them in here. (chris) Either way, Chris was excited to test out his new pool toys and was determined to swim ASAP. So after only being home about for about 20 minutes Chris was in his swim trunks and we were going swimming!
Friday night my Grandma, Brother, Chris, and I all dyed Easter eggs. Can you believe that Chris had never dyed eggs before?! I think he had more fun than anyone coloring them - we did neon tie-dye eggs.

Buster was soo pooped at the end of the night that he was literally the most adorable thing ever and just fell asleep in my lap cuddling my leg.

Holiday Decorating & Cookie Baking

Holiday Decorating & Cookie Baking

Lets be honest, the Holidays are expensive enough with all the gifts your buying and whatnot. I want my house to look festive and expensive without actually being expensive!

Since I just moved into my apartment this past year, I had NO holiday decorations. So of course the first thing I did once December rolled around was figure out what I was going to do for Christmas decorations! The first thing that needed to be picked up was a Christmas tree. I've never had a real tree before, and honestly my apartment is wayyy too small for a 6ft Christmas tree. So I opted for the fake 4ft tall kind that you can buy from Target on sale for $75. Next: Baubles. I opted for the classic red and gold theme for the tree, although I really wanted to do an all white theme. $1 store, here we come. I bought all of our tree baubles AND the star for the tree at our local Dollar store. And honestly, I think it turned out pretty nice.

I have to admit though, some of the ornaments were not from the dollar store. My Grandma loves the Christmas store, and when she went there she bought a ton of absolutely adorable ornaments. And she even got one to commemorate our first Christmas actually living together.

Mini Ulta Haul!

I was feeling pretty down after a memorial service I had to attend, so I did some retail therapy at Ulta to cheer me up!

I had a $50 gift card from AT&T so I decided that would be my little budget. I went looking to splurge on the Tarte palette, and of course they STILL didn't have it. So I got some other drugstore things instead.

I reallllly wanted to try the L'Oreal True Match foundation because all I hear are great things about it. My current foundation is a taaaaad to dark for my current (pale) skintone. So I picked it up and tried it out this morning. I realllllly like it. Light, long-lasting, and stands up to the Florida rain/heat/humidity.
I also picked up a Nyx butter gloss in Tiramisu and a soft matte lip cream in San Paulo. They were both on sale and the Tiramisu is an amazing neutral, while San Paulo is matte and so vibrant to wear. I've worn the Tiramisu with more bold eyeshadows and when I want the attention other than my lips. While I've worn the San Paulo with neturals and had that pop of color on my lippies.
Also pictured is this silver essence eye-shadow, its metallic and I'm going to pair it with the black Ulta eyeshadow. I have an idea for where to take this look, but I've gotta test it out first.
The only other thing is the Palladio liquid liner in black, the one I was using is nowhere near finished, and the top just broke off! Not even superglue could fix it the lid/brush area was so broken. So I had to buy a replacement. They make a nice liquid liner, and I'm currently comparing it to the Almay one and the Rimmel London Scandeleyes liquid/gel liner. (I prefer the Palladio)

Overall, it was a successful trip and I really like the things I purchased.

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day Everyone!

Over here in the states Labor Day is a national holiday where no mail runs and the only person who seems to have to work is my fiance! It's also the last holiday of summer and traditionally marks the end of summer. I usually spend this holiday with my Aunt and Uncle, Grandparents, and parents on the beach sunbathing and overall having a great time. This year though, my Aunt and Uncle couldn't make it and Chris has to work today! I also made plans to go work on my Engineering Design project with my group today. So Labor Day will be exactly that, Labor!

Where I'm at now

Weight Loss & What I'm Doing To Get Healthy

Post 3 of 3:

A little post on how much I've lost & how its going overall.

So far I've lost 13 pounds.
Well, since the last time I got on a scale I've lost 13 pounds. I make a conscious effort to not step on the scale everyday and to just weigh myself once a week, usually on Saturday, and before I've done any of my morning activities. Although in the new apartment I can't actually weigh myself because I don't have a scale. I think I'll just wait to weigh myself again when I go back to my Grandparents house. (in over a week)

When is the right time to start a YouTube Channel?

This isn't a normal blog post about when the perfect time to start a YouTube channel is: I'm posing a question to current/future/past youtubers.

When is the right time to start a YouTube Channel?

I'm one of those people who doesn't commit to something unless I know I can do it wholeheartedly and with the intention of keeping it up. I think a few prerequisites questions are necessary to start a channel. And heres my list of "omg what ifs..."
  • Proper channel name - should I keep it the same as my blog or change it?
  • Should the content be the same as what I post about on the blog, or should it be something related but not the same?
  • How often should I vlog vs. how often would people actually want to see updates?
  • In a slew of other bloggers & vloggers, is there really a way to stand out? (I mean, besides your personality)
  • Should I have stuff prerecorded just in case I fall behind?
  • My interests are varied, so is that a good or bad thing? (ex: I love beauty and fashion, but also enjoy videogames and comic books)
  • What to record with (iPhone, digital camera) and what editing software is easiest to use?
  • Do I honestly have the time to dedicate to this?
I do feel like the blogging community is an accepting one, but these are just some of the questions running through my mind as I try to figure out whats best for me.

I know people say to just "jump right in..." but thats not my personality. I'm an overplanner and I like to have most of my details down before I even start. Not saying I don't have any spontaneity, but I am saying that in the preplanning stages I like to cover my bases.

Anyway, if you will have/have/did have a YouTube channel, let me know in the comments how you approached it. I'd seriously appreciate all the details.

And as always, you can stalk me via social media:

Moving Weekend - Update!

As you guys may know, this past weekend was absolutely crazy! I spent the entire weekend moving and hauling things 45 minutes away to my new apartment. I overall got so much done this weekend it was crazy.

Saturday:
We ended up having a really late start on Saturday. It was monsooning outside and nothing would be packed into the car. Chris and I had a late breakfast, and then Will came over and we loaded the car full of stuff to trek it back to the apartment. We basically spent all day Saturday running to and from the apartment and packing so much stuff into the car/apartment that we were exhausted. We did however end up taking my bed apart and removing the mirror off the back of the dresser.

Post 4th of July update

I needed this past weekend.

I really feel like I got the opportunity to relax. And I got an amazingly golden tan. I did however, get to spend a lot of time with my Brother (who still snores like a banshee) and my Grandparents. I got to spend all day Friday at the pool with my Grandma. We chatted of course, and I made a few friend in 8 year-old Gabriela. She made me smile, she was interested in comics, science, and videogames. She reminded me a lot of myself, as we continued talked though, I realized that through her over-sharing she was probably going to turn away from any kind of STEM field in the future. Her parents seemed to do what most parents (without realizing it) do. Discourage their daughter from embracing what she was actually interested in, to talk more about her hair. She seemed relieved to talk to someone about how /awesome/ Mystique was (even though she was a 'bad guy') and how many different x-men there were in the universe.

I hope I made some kind of impression.
