How To Wear a Leopard Dress to Work

How To Wear A Leopard Dress to Work

Wearing prints in the workplace can be one of the most difficult things - and leopard print is no exception to this fact. Recently I picked up this super cute Leopard print dress from Target for $25 and really wanted to wear it to work. So I did what every other 25 year old would do - I sat down at my computer and googled "Can I wear leopard print to work?" Now this may vary by office or building, but my office is pretty casual when it comes to a dress code. Other offices in the building have a pretty strict dress code, but since we don't meet clients face-to-face its not really necessary when we will be sitting on a computer all day making calls.
Either way, to the left is the dress that I wore. Its a super cute blousey  dress that I bought with a friend on a recent Basic Bitch Sunday trip.
Its sleeveless, has a keyhole front, is short, and has a defined waist. To make this work appropriate I accessorized with a few simple items that I already had in my closet: a black belt, cardigan, flats, cute hair bow.

The thin black belt was a staple for me. It was leather and had a tarnished bronze-gold buckle and went perfectly with the dress. I decided to wear it under the cardigan just in case I went out after work.

Black cardigan - how can you go wrong? This one had short sleeves (because it's hot) but was light and comfortable enough to wear all day.

I paired the outfit with Simply Vera Tuxedo Flats in black. I love these shoes and they have a giant black bow on them. They bring a little femininity into an outfit while keeping it comfortable. I also would of worn a pair of black gladiator sandals or some thick black strap wedges if going a little more casual or bringing the dress to a more nighttime look.

OOTD: Comfy Summer Romper

OOTD: Comfy Summer Romper

Okay ladies and gents - its finally summer time! So you know what that means - rompers and shorts and super fun OOTDs! I'm excited to show you my first (I have a collection of like 5) rompers for the summer. Rompers are super cute, easy to wear and style, and cool (literally) outfits to gear up for summer in.

I particularly like rompers because it makes a statement without really having to think about it. + this one is a pair of shorts, perfect for this hot Florida weather.

Impromptu OOTD

Impromptu OOTD

So, I had absolutely no idea what I was going to talk about today. Which really shouldn't be all that surprising because I usually never have anything really planned ahead of time. So when my friend and coworker asked to go outside to take some photos with him for his instagram the idea for this post popped into my head! A nice, comfortable, everyday, impromptu OOTD! I feel like I'm always showing you things that are complete and  perfect and lets be honest - thats not everyday.

So - lets get started!
The sweater is an Anna (reject) sweater that my Grandma picked up for me in the DOLLAR store. Yes, the dollar store. She was on vacation and she came home with this sweater in this pretty green color and a plum purple color. I have been loving the green one more than the purple one.
The pants jeggings are from Sams club - which is a wholesaler and I'm pretty sure these were around $15. They are comfy, have an elastic waistband, and fit perfectly inside boots. Criteria - met.
The boots are some ~2-3 year old riding boots that were picked up on sale from Bealls for like $30. Simple, and broken in!
The scarf is an oldie but a goodie from New York & Co. over 5 years ago!
Sunglasses are the only recent purchase actually - they were $15 from Target.

The makeup under this look is just as simple:
Winged liner using Palladio liquid liner in black, brows by elf eyebrow kit in medium, and a simple nude lip using a Jordana moisturizing lip balm in honey love.

Annnnnd, thats it. Simple, comfy, me.

New Years Eve 2015 Recovery

The Day After...

FOTN on my Insta!
So, normally I don't drink much. I don't know what came over me this year, but I ended up drinking wayyyy more than I intended. And I'm going to be honest, the only pictures that came out good are the ones that I took while I was still sober. So I'm going to quash any drunken memories and just wish you all a very happy New Year!

I've been thinking about my resolution these past 2 days and I think I've finally figured it out:
I want to spend 2015 happy.
Not that fake happy where you pretend everything is alright and you put your head down and hustle. I'm talking about the happy where you get to enjoy life, eat the food you want, have the friends you want, and spend your time (outside of work) how you want. I want to spend more time with my family and friends. I want to smile, laugh, and cry more. And I'm gonna try my damnedest to complete this. And also losing 10lbs wouldn't be too bad either.

Either way, its the 2nd of January and this is what I did today:

I'm gonna be honest with you, my fiance and my dog can't swim very well. So we did what every Floridian does, we went swimming on the second day of the year! We wanted to teach Buster where the steps were in the pool so that if he ever fell in I wouldn't have to dive in and save him... Again. So Buster got a swimming lesson that turned into a fun learning playtime with him and his Daddy. Once we got home my makeup brushes got a good cleaning and Buster is continuing to sleep the day away. Overall it was a day that I enjoyed more than anything, I laughed lots, got to spend time with my family, and had the most amaaazing dinner cooked by my Grandma. Ugh, I love pork and sauerkraut. Delicious.

It was a good day.

Comfy Winter Look & Holiday Music!

Comfy Winter Look & Holiday Music!

Today I thought I'd give you a look into my version of a comfy "winter" outfit.

Simple Winter

This outfit is actually something I made at the start of Fall, but it was so hot here I completely forgot all about it because it didn't feel like Fall to me. But finally the weather has given up and has decided to get a bit colder. So I pulled this outfit back from the depths of polyvore and decided to share it with you guys.

I love myself a cute, fuzzy, warm, white sweater (I own two). And I love to pair them with either A) Dark wash skinny jeans or B) Distressed boyfriend jeans with a cute cuff. I decided on the boyfriend jeans for this look with some pretty neutral accessories. I've been loving beige/nudes for the Fall/Winter so I kept with that. A simple nude colored scarf and some nude ballet flats. I love the idea of a cute standout purse with such a neutral outfit to give it a little flair, and then adding some cute heart earrings, a gold bangle, and a cute little ring. I kept the makeup seriously basic with a nude lip and mascara for a simple but polished look.

I feel like this outfit would be perfect for visiting a friend and lounging on their couch while you drink delicious hot chocolate and listen to some holiday music.

Speaking of music This Holiday...

FL Winter OOTD - FOTD

Okay so it was like 59 degrees outside, but whatever!

Okay so lets be real, I'm a born and raised Floridian so I barely ever get to wear the winter clothes that I've collected throughout my life. And my boots, well, I have a massive collection of boots and I wear them all Fall/Winter no matter what the weather is like. If they go with my outfit, I wear them.
No shame in my boot wearin' game.

The dress is seriously just a simple black v-neck long sleeve wrap dress. Wrap dresses are seriously so forgiving and lord knows I need to be forgiven for all that food I've been eating this holiday season! I picked the dress up a couple years ago in NYC at an H&M.
The red wool scarf is even older than the dress I believe. I got it quite a few years ago when I was heading to NYC to visit Chris one of the first times. I wore grey tights under it all, because they were warm (and clean, I seriously need to do laundry). And I paired the whole outfit with these suede boots with cute little buttons on the side that make my gams look amazing and the heel is suitable for all day wear.

To be fair, the FOTD is so simple. I've been so lazy with my makeup since the holidays. You can pull off anything with a good application of eyeliner (when it doubt, wing it out) and a fabulous lip. I just used the Almay liquid liner in Black, the elf eyebrow kit in Medium, and the NYX soft matte lip cream in Prague. 3 things to make a simple but fabulous face!

Sorority Event - OOTD & FOTD

Sorority Event - OOTD & FOTD

Today's post is inspired by the absolutely lovely ladies in my sorority. I'm a sister in Alpha Omega Epsilon, which is the sorority that supports women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). I am a computer engineering major myself and most of my sisters are engineering majors as well. Last night was the night that we welcomed new candidates into the sorority, it was a pin attire event so we had to look our best. Here are some pictures of the lovely ladies!

Overall though, this was a night about the new candidates and them on the path to becoming lovely new sisters. I managed to catch everyone for an awesome picture with our banner + the membership educator.
Here are our lovely candidates!
I'm excited for the rest of this semester and to see these ladies grow into lovely new sisters!

Now down for why you're actually here: My OOTD & FOTD.

FOTD - OOTD - August 5, 2014

FOTD - OOTD

August 5th, 2014

 OOTD
I picked this dress up sometime within the last year (I honestly am not sure). But since I've gotten it I have been in love with it! This is the dress I mentioned in my August Favorites. I think the thing that spoke to me the most was the color and patterns that adorn this dress. They are seriously eye-catching and this dress is perfect for days where I want to look like I tried really hard in the morning when I really didn't. I also like how it minimises my breast size. The only qualm I have with this dress is the neckline, I have to wear one of those bra clasps that pulls my bra straps in so that they aren't as visible. I paired this dress with some old gold sandals that I own. Its easy and it looks like I seriously tried!
FOTD
This FOTD is pretty standard. But using some of the new things that I picked up this month.
  • Primer: e.l.f. Mineral Infused Primer
  • Concealer/Highlighter: e.l.f. Studio Duo Concealer/Highlighter in Light
  • Foundation: Covergirl Outlast 3-in-1 in Creamy Natural.
  • Eyebrows: e.l.f. Studio Eyebrow kit in medium.
  • Blush: Maybelline Fit me Blush in Medium Pink
  • Eyeshadow: Highlighter is a Sally Beauty Supply Single in White. The other eyeshadow is the L.A. Colors Trio in Orchid.
  • Eyeliner: Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof gel liner in black.
  • LipGloss: Nyx Butter Gloss in Raspberry Tart.
My earrings are all cheapies that I've picked up from Claires/local stores around here and I'm currently wearing Wet n' Wilds Lavender Pearlescent. Its this pretty peachy pink color that I was fond of and I liked the $1 price even more.

Fiancee finally moved + impromptu date!

This past Friday my fiancee finally made the permanent move from New York City to Florida. He didn't come in until late Friday night and we went out with my parents to Quarterdeck where he ate the greasiest burger I think I've ever seen with fried pickles.
Its like literally torture for someone on a 1200 calorie a day diet, with no calories left to eat that day! Its the last burger he's going to eat in quite a while because all I cook now is healthy food! Haha!

Saturday though was my Grandmas big estate sale for her friend so Will, Chris, and I volunteered to help. They didn't particularly need all three of us, and we ended up taking my Grandmas van and loading Chris's two suitcases and his big ol' box + some other stuff into the car and trekking it up to the apartment. Once we got back though we dropped the van back off and headed home. We unpacked both of his suitcases and started his laundry. (Some spices his Mom had packed in his bag for him had exploded and everything smelled delicious)

By the time we got everything unpacked we were exhausted and I was not in the mood to cook dinner, and neither was he. We decided to go on an impromptu date to Ruby Tuesdays so I hopped in the shower and threw this look together.

I'm wearing WHAT...?!

I'M WEARING WHAT...?!

Pants. Yes, pants.
To those of you who know me, you are seriously surprised because I only wear pants every once in a blue moon. Well, apparently a blue moon is tonight because I've got not only JEANS but SKINNY JEANS on.

To be honest I never thought I'd fit in these pants again. But, I do! They are still a bit tight, but wearable nevertheless. They are a darker denim and I've paired them with a colorful top. For my hair I've just done a simple hairstyle and paired it with simple makeup. I find going to work all glammed up to be a bit overkill. All I do all day is stare at code and the only people who notice are my co workers, who are already in shock that I've decided to wear pants. Please ignore my sandals: I had a charlie horse in my calf last night that left my leg aching for the majority of the day. (I actually left the house in my slippers!)

OOTD - FOTD - Weight Loss Update!

This morning my wardrobe was seriously lacking because more than half my clothes, accessories, and shoes are packed up. So doing an OOTD was almost impossible, but I decided to do it anyway.
It monsooned outside my office on and off all day.
This outfit is pretty simple, just a dress I picked up a few years ago at Target. My fiance actually picked it out, and I wore it on the night we got engaged. The shoes are Pink & Pepper black madja gladiator sandals. I carried a blue teal Coach leather handbag I've had for a couple years. Its large and can hold all the things I need for school and work! (minus my laptop) I had my hair natural in just a headband. It was another wet day outside today, so I kept everything simple.
